Rapid Learning and Relaxation

Intelligence is a way of acting, not an IQ score — it's developed like a muscle, and IQ itself is malleable over a broad range. "If you want to earn more, you have to learn more." The more you learn, the more you can learn. Keeping the mind working also extends life (Grandma Moses painting at 100; Schweitzer working full days at 91) — while seniors averaging 7 hours of TV/day let their brains atrophy.

The brain science (Lozanov's research)

Seven keys to faster learning

  1. Define what you want to learn and why — only study with an aim.
  2. Intense desire to learn.
  3. Study with gentle wordless classical music (Mozart, Bach, Brahms) or ocean sounds.
  4. Spaced repetition.
  5. Practice — learning to learn takes practice.
  6. Variety of stimulation (books, plays, conversations).
  7. Short segments — you remember most at the beginning and end of a study period, so take many breaks.
